October Long Weekend Opening Hours

Over the October Long Weekend (1st - 3rd October 2011), most CSU campus libraries will be open Sunday and Monday from 1.30 pm – 5.00 pm providing access to the library collection and basic lending services. The 24 hour areas will continue to remain open for computer and printer access.

Normal services (including Live Chat and our 1800 number) will resume from the 4th of October. Please see the Library Website to view the hours of each Campus.

Don't forget you can still access all our online resources, including Journal Databases, Search@CSU Library, eBooks, and much more from the Library Website.

Problems With Content Displaying On Library Website

The library is experiencing issues with content displaying from the Online Reference and Subject Support pages, the Delicious links are not displaying on some pages.

In the meantime you can still access this content through Delicious. For example: Online Reference>Dictionaries & Thesauruses>for more useful links, see: CSU Library's Online Reference Bookmarks on Delicious.

The problem seems to have occurred when the new owners of Delicious relaunched the site with many changes that seems to have affected the links to the library's website.

The library is endeavouring to have this rectified as soon as possible.

Banned Books Week- Celebrate the Freedom to Read!

Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and the importance of open access to information and literature despite the nature of its content.
This annual event was started in the USA in protest to the attempts to ban controversial books and to draw attention to the dangers of censorship and the importance of freedom of expression.

Why not join in this week by reading a banned or challenged book from CSU Library:

The University of Melbourne have also published a list of books that have been banned in Australia.

Download from Microfilm to USB for free!


CSU Library has access to thousands of journal and newspaper articles via microfilm. The microfilm readers at our Albury, Bathurst and Wagga Wagga campuses can now save direct from microfilm to your USB drive - no need to print, and at no cost to you.
Instructions have been placed at the microfilm readers or see our friendly loans desk staff for assistance.

Journal Database Downtime: ScienceDirect

The ScienceDirect journal database will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance (by the database vendor, SciVerse) for approximately 11 hours on the 10th of September (from about 9.30pm AEST Saturday night.)

Two health-related eResources available on trial

CSU Library has negotiated a trial of 2 health-related eResources.

Nursing Education in Video provides 260 videos created specifically for the education and instruction of nurses, nursing assistants, and healthcare workers.


eTG: Electronic Therapeutic Guidelines provides health practitioners with treatment guidelines - both pharmacological and nonpharmacological - for common disorders found in clinical practice.


Both these eResources can be accessed from the Trial Databases page, and CSU Library welcomes feedback from staff and students, using this feedback form.


Please note that these eResources are available on trial during September 2011, so make sure to check these exciting new resources out and let us know what you think.

Informit Databases Unavailable On Sunday 4th September 2011

The Informit package of Australian databases and indexes are an important source of Australian journal and other academic material.

Informit have advised that all online databases will be unavailable on Sunday 4th September, 2011, from 6 am - 2 pm AEST, due to network maintenance at RMIT.

RMIT Publishing has apologised for any inconvenience.
