Library Chat Service is here!

Need your answer now?

The CSU Library is offering an instant messaging chat service, which will allow you to chat with Library staff in real time.

No accounts, downloads or personal information required. Just click on Chat on the library website and type in your question.

The service will be available from 10 am to 4 pm AEST, Monday to Friday (not including public holidays). This is a three month trial, and, if successful, service hours may be extended.

Don’t forget to give us feedback about the service. Let us know what you think or any suggestions for how it could be improved.

Thurgoona Learning Commons - Box Fights & Yellow Shirts

The Thurgoona Learning Commons is coming along well, and today yourlibrary@CSU reveals what has really been going on behind closed doors, which may cause shock and/or awe.

We start with the front view of the Library. It looks rather nice if I do say so myself.

However, inside we see the Yellow Shirt Warriors trying to figure out which books go where. The burning question readers is this: do these men know the finer details of the Dewey-Decimal system?

And what have we here? It appears that a couple of Yellow Shirts are sneaking behind the shelves for a box fight.

Angry at himself for losing the box-fight, this Yellow Shirt storms out of the building, vowing to 'Never read a book again!'

Realizing the error of his ways, the defeated Yellow Shirt comes back and helps reconstruct the shelving which was torn down in the madness of the box-fight.

And here is the end result. Books stacked neatly, with the afternoon sun shining through, filling all the corners of the Library.

Note to readers: the events described above, and depicted in the images provided may have been fabricated for entertainment purposes. yourlibrary@CSU would like to inform you that no books were harmed in the making of this blog, and the Yellow Shirts are highly trained and skilled removalists (although their knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system is still yet to be determined).

Albury-Wodonga Campus Library Services in 2009

The new Thurgoona Learning Commons opens in February 2009 and will be fully functioning by Orientation Week. Most of the Library staff and collection will be housed in the Learning Commons.

The Thurgoona Learning Commons will house the Library Services and offer IT, Student Services and Indigenous Support. It also features 24-hour computer access, assistive technology, multimedia room, and lounge and study spaces. A coffee house is also located next door.

In 2009 the Albury Library will remain open at reduced opening hours during teaching periods and house a core collection of health-related resources. In 2010 the Albury Library will fully integrate into the Thurgoona Learning Commons when all Albury staff and students move to Thurgoona.

The Albury Library will house a core collection of health books covering Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Speech Pathology, plus a Closed Reserve collection. It will also have photocopiers, computers, printers and a scanner, plus group and individual study spaces.

Information services will be available through online facilities or via a dedicated telephone. Books located at any campus can be requested through the Library Catalogue and picked up at the Albury campus.

The Library anticipates moving in the next couple of weeks. More information about how this will affect library services will be made available shortly.
